Wolfpack Falls to Sharpshooting Eagles
Plymouth, MN – A tough loss for the Wolfpack to a Regional opponent on Saturday as the Oak Hills Men's Basketball team travelled to a neutral site to take on the Faith Baptist Bible College Eagles.
The game started off with a couple of fouls called on Junior, Bryson Keepers (Sheldon, WI), which took him out for most of the first half. With a lot of back and forth turnovers from both teams, the game would go scoreless for over 2 minutes with the teams tied at 4-4.
During the first half, the score remained close with neither team leading by more than 2 points until a layup by Faith with 4:31 left in the half put the Eagles up by 4 and started their push to stretch the lead. The half ended with the Wolfpack down 31-39.
Freshman, Noah Larson (Park Rapids, MN) led the team in points with 10 in the first half. Senior, Alexander Gonzalez (Miami, FL) followed closely with 9. A major struggle for the team was the 11 turnovers they had as a team with only 10 rebounds in the half.
They were able to force the Eagles to have 12 turnovers, however, Faith's team nearly doubled the Wolfpack's rebounding numbers with 19 total boards at the half.
Oak Hills was outshot at the 3-point line in the second half. Not making any of their 9 attempts while the Eagles were able to hit 7. This had a big impact on Faith's team being able to stretch their lead even further throughout the rest of the game.
The large bench for the Eagles was also a huge difference maker in this game. With 53 of the team's 77 points coming from players off the bench, the Wolfpack was unable to keep up.
The Wolfpack were led in points by Gonzalez, who finished the game with 15 points and 3 assists. With two other players finishing with double digit points, Larson ended the game with 13 points and a tie for game high 8 rebounds. Freshman, Caleb Smoot (McDonough, GA) added 12 points, 4 steals and 3 rebounds.
The Wolfpack are back in action Thursday, November 14th where they will travel to Hibbing, MN to take on the Minnesota North College-Hibbing Cardinals.
