Wolfpack Come Up Short in Second Half Against Minnesota-Morris
Bemidji, MN — The Oak Hills Christian College Wolfpack battled hard on Monday night but fell 70–61 to the visiting University of Minnesota-Morris Cougars in non-conference play. The loss drops the Wolfpack to 0–3 on the season.
The first half was evenly matched, with both teams heading into the locker room tied at 23–23. Oak Hills showed flashes of strong play early but struggled to find consistency on offense. Minnesota-Morris came out more efficient in the second half, outscoring the Wolfpack 47–38 and controlling the game momentum. Oak Hills was unable to reclaim the lead after halftime.
Junior, Nate Vinson (Maple Grove, MN) led Oak Hills with 14 points, going 5–6 from the free-throw line and adding six rebounds. Junior, Tyrecke Francois (Pompano Beach, FL) contributed 11 points and five boards, while Junior, Lanygel McCracken (Pensacola, FL) notched a double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds. Senior, Keith Wilson (Pompano Beach, FL) was a key facilitator, dishing out five assists to go along with 10 points.
Despite the loss, Head Coach Daved Lundeen saw positives in his team's effort:
"I loved the way our guys battled on a night the shots weren't falling. We won the turnover battle and on the offensive boards, which are important markers for us. Sometimes the ball just doesn't go in. But I'm proud of our group and I know we're going to keep getting better."
Despite committed defensive efforts—registering nine steals and seven blocks—the Wolfpack struggled shooting the ball, finishing at just 30.1% from the field and 20.5% from beyond the arc. Minnesota-Morris capitalized inside the paint and at the free-throw line, finishing with a 42–26 advantage in paint points and converting 16 of 27 attempts from the stripe.
Oak Hills will look to regroup quickly as they prepare for an exhibition matchup at the University of Minnesota-Crookston on Wednesday, November 19.
