Wolfpack Battle on the Road in 89–57 Setback at Bethany Lutheran
Mankato, MN – The Oak Hills Christian College Wolfpack men's basketball team continued its nonconference schedule Tuesday night with a tough road test at Bethany Lutheran, ultimately falling 89–57 to the Vikings.
Oak Hills competed from the opening tip and looked to establish its offense early, attacking the basket and creating opportunities off defensive pressure. Despite the early energy, the Wolfpack found themselves trailing after Bethany Lutheran opened the game on a quick scoring run. Oak Hills continued to battle through the first half and showed flashes of quality possessions on both ends of the floor, but the Wolfpack went into halftime trailing 43–29.
The Wolfpack opened the second half with renewed effort, moving the ball well and generating multiple quality looks on offense. Oak Hills continued to fight throughout the period and made several strong pushes, but shooting consistency and rebounding proved to be obstacles as the game progressed. The Vikings were able to extend their advantage in the latter stages, and Oak Hills fought to the final buzzer in the 89–57 road defeat.
Junior Tyrecke Francois (Pompano Beach, FL) paced the Wolfpack offensively with 26 points and four rebounds to go along with his scoring effort. Junior Lanygel McCracken (Pensacola, FL) also turned in a strong performance for Oak Hills, finishing with 10 points and eight rebounds while providing key production in the paint for the Wolfpack. Oak Hills also forced multiple turnovers and worked to generate transition opportunities throughout the night, showing continued growth on both ends of the floor.
Following the game, Head Coach Daved Lundeen emphasized the importance of tightening up defensively:
"We're competing hard, but we have to do a much better job limiting extra possessions for our opponents," Lundeen said. "When we give teams second and third chances, it makes everything more difficult. Cleaning that up will be a big focus for us moving forward."
The Wolfpack will return to action on the road Saturday, December 6th, with an away matchup against the University of Minnesota–Morris Cougars.
